As I was gearing up to ride home from work one night, I couldn't find an earplug so I rode without it. I noticed the valvetrain sounded a bit noisy. After checking the clearances and realizing the exhaust valves were both tight, I pulled the cams to measure the shims. Since I had the cams out and I've always suspected a head gasket problem, I ended up pulling the head too. I'm glad I did so because there is a problem with the head, gasket, and cylinder. It seems the head was over torqued and the result was an indentation into the cylinder surface. The parts are off at Valley Engine and new components have been ordered. Stay tuned.
